This television special originally broadcast on East Tennessee PBS on December 29, 2025. Presenting a film by Jacob Hale — Behind of Curtain Milk Man & The Big Band — a new, hour-long documentary chronicling the journey of Knoxville, Tennessee’s Milk Man & The Big Band. What began as an inside joke among a small group of friends eventually grew into a full-time musical endeavor — culminating in a headlining performance at the historic Bijou Theatre. This film takes viewers behind the scenes of a 21-piece ensemble built on community, friendship, and perseverance. The special features over 30 minutes of interviews conducted by Grammy-nominated writer Wayne Bledsoe, along with six performances from the band’s first annual Bijou Theatre concert on January 18, 2025. Selections include original songs such as “Hammurabi’s Pad” and “Let Me Tell You,” alongside covers of “Jet” (Paul McCartney & Wings), “Shakedown Street” (Grateful Dead), and “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” (The Beatles). In total, 51 interviews were conducted with band members, crew, Knoxville musicians, entertainment writers, and promoters — spanning over 16 hours — and were carefully curated by Caleb McNeil.
